Thought it seems blasphemous, I personally wouldn't choose a Sondheim quote at all. I liked "Music is a beautiful opiate" by Henry Miller because it seems so universal. It covers it all when you think of music.

Question, though. Is "Look at all you gave to me" from Passion?

Re: Quote
I liked it too, but it just didn't have staying power for me. The more I thought about it, I wanted it to be more personal to me, and I've never even read a Henry Miller book (I've tried one of the Tropics several times, though).

That quote is from the end of Sunday in the Park with George. To give you some context . . .
look at all the things you gave to me
let me give to you something in return
notice how you see, notice every tree
I want to explore the light

Re: Quote
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...right! That's horrid of me, I love that song, I should have remembered that! "The choice may have been mistaken, the choosing was not." God, Sondheim is the fucking MAN.

And I can understand where you're coming from in regards to making the quote personalized...I suppose that's the point of engraving the iPOD in the first place, eh? I vote for either the first one or the Assassins quote.

Re: Quote
The choice may have been mistaken, the choosing was not was almost a contender, but I had to drop the THE before choosing, and there wasn't room to credit SS, and I really wanted his name attached to the quote.

Re:
When it comes down to it, I own no billy joel music, unless you count the copy of Scenes on the mixed cd Kate made me. While it is a beautiful quote, one that the counselor in me was cheerleading for, I needed something more ME. Sondheim has changed my life, opened my eyes, taught me what I truly love about music.

Wish you were going to be here for SATC. sigh.
