Did you like Garden State? Then you'll love Elizabethtown, provided of course, you're not offended by the direct ripoff of everything that made GS great, just changed enough to call it a new movie.

Seriously, it's Garden State Mad Libs!

It's a story about a man who is having problems at his job as an actor/waiter a shoe developer who travels east to a less sophisticated environment after finding out his mother father has died. While there, he redevelops a close relationship with a high school friend his cousin. Along the way, he meets a quirky and optimistic girl who helps him learn lessons about himself, and ultimately, life. Music plays a large role in the fabric of the movie.

Don't misunderstand me, I liked the movie. I was just a little irritated that a movie I loved for being fresh and original is being copied for commercial effect.

Hmmmm. I was contemplating seeing Elizabethtown since the actual Elizabethtown is an hour from me, if that. (Yes, I'm one of those people.)

I'm not sure if you've sold me or scared me away.

If you are a fan of cinematography at all, go see it for some of the shared glances, and not the ones the narrator points out. There were moments with paused looks where I remember thinking "this is why films are made. This can't be told in words" Orlando Bloom's acting rose in my esteem for this movie (his hotness was already quite high on my, um, esteem).

Also Susan Sarandon's role is small, but she was flawless.

So, overall, it has its weaknesses, but it has some very powerful small moments. Let me know if you see it.
