Bead by bead

So I started stringing my first set of prayer beads last night, but had to stop because I needed a larger crimping bead to finish the project. Went to Joann's today, of course they don't have any and they act like I'm asking for something rare, or at least freaky. Thinking about how I'm going to finish the project, I think I'm going to try tying a knot behind the big bead.

To summarize the project:
Beads-Blue, green, a few brown (to incorporate the Big bead) with a big bead in the shape of a diamond, with an Incan sun on it. 27 beads(included the main one), seperated by three black seed beads each. All the beads, except for the black seeds, were recovered from antique necklaces found at the flea marketesque place on Mission.

I love it, and can't wait to start working with it. I'll post a pic when I finish it.

This sounds interesting!!! Can you give the prayers that you are going to use for each of the beads?

As I'm new to this, I'm using the beads as more of a counting system, using the same prayer for each. I'm going to try some different stuff out, though, starting with some of the prayers in the book on prayer beads I have, but I also want to try some nontrad stuff that has meaning for me, like song lyrics, poems I like, etc. I have a lot to learn in this department.

Um... Stewart... why are you of all people making prayer beads? I realize that in no way is this organized religon and you can tailor them to yourself, but I am beginning to be concerned that Cross in the Woods has had an effect on you.
Hey can I borry "I can't believe I'm knitting"? I need to know how to knit in the round.
