Keeping in the "spirit" of the day

So, I'm at work now, but still have Christmas music on my mind. I'm listening to Accuradio's Holiday channel, and writing down any of the songs I want to try to download when I get home.

Help me out, what are some of your favorite Christmas songs? I decided I'm going to assemble a two or three disc collection of Christmas songs for my first week office gift (It's supposed to be under five bucks for week one, so I thought this was perfect!). I'll just call somebody tomorrow who knows my person well, to make sure I don't put anything on her discs that she hates. After that, I am compiling the master Christmas collection for myself, track list to follow after completion!

I also am starting to feel like Christmas deserves a fighting chance this year. Just because last year was awful doesn't mean this year has to be the same. Anyway, the main point of my writing was to alert you to the one (singular) acceptable Christmas song that I know of:

"God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" as performed by Barenaked Ladies and Sarah McLachlan.

I have this song in MP3 format on my computer, and if you had a messenger service of some sort that would make it easy to send it to you I would be glad to do so (hint, hint)... There just might be others out there that I haven't discovered. I am excited to hear what you have come up with so far... so long as NONE of it came out of the 1950s.

Oh, and no Mannheim Steamroller, please!

I downloaded the BNL/SM song earlier. It's fantastic (I'm listening to every song to make sure they don't have glitches, and I've already checked that one)!

I feel the same way about the Steamroller. I did download some of their stuff, but will probably use the Trans-siberia stuff instead. I wanted some instrumental, though.

as much as I claim not to be a religious person, I still get touched by the hymn "o, holy night". jewel's version of it is amazing!

if you are a mariah carey fan, theres always "all i want for christmas (is you)" or the traditional chrismas song (chester's nuts)

best of luck to you

I haven't downloaded any Jewel because I have her Christmas CD (actually, it was a gift from tick043, now that I think about it.). I'll copy the stuff I want off of it tomorrow night.

I like the oldies
I do, and I can never get enough of the Christmas Song as Performed by Nat King Cole and White Christmas by Bing Crosby.

What else, Snoopys Christmas and the Christmas Song by David Seville and the Chipmunks
Oh, and Santa Baby by Eartha Kitt is divine.

-Have yourself a merry little christmas
-Its the Most Wonderful Time of the Year
And any instrumental version of Sleigh Ride, as long as its not performed by Mannheim Steamroller.

I need to hear this BNL song.

Re: I like the oldies
I'm surprised you haven't heard it yet.

Do you have AIM? I'll send it over to you sometime.

I love "Do You Hear What I Hear?" performed by anyone. Dunno why.

I would second The Christmas Song, "White Christmas," and "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas." Oh, and "Feliz Navidad."

"Rockin Around the Christmas Tree" by Brenda Lee (I think that's who it's by)...is my all-time favorite Christmas "carol". It's featured in Home Alone, a truly under-rated Christmas movie

Bah Humbug
I don't dislike Christmas- (or Xmas as we who have the mind that it's just become another commercial holiday have come to call it because it's more cost efficient). I'm just not the most exuberant celebrator. However I do have a suggestion for a song. I didn't say good song- but it is somewhat entertaining. It would definitely add a new and exciting twist to you compilations. "Christmas in Heaven" by Monty Python. God i'm dork.

My FAVORITE Christmas song is "Feliz Navidad" by Jose Feliciano.

I was at the mall Saturday night with my sister and our friend, Betsy, when that song came over the Muziac. I started dancing in front of Barnes & Noble...soliciting laughter from both girls. Hey, it'd been a LONG day, and I was wired.

Once you are finished, let me know so I can come over and pick out my favorites. I love Christmas songs. So anyway, talk to you later.
