Here's that participation you asked for...
1. A movie: "Out of Time" It was a fun Denzel thriller, a good way to be entertained and not have to think for 2 hours. Plus, Denzel's character's last name is Whitlock. I thought that was interesting...

2. A book: "Dude Where's My Country?" by Michael Moore. I recommend anyone read that and "Stupid White Men" before they vote this year.

3. A musical artist, song or album: I highly recommend "40 Oz. to Freedom" by Sublime. A great mix of pop, reggae, and hard-core punk.

4. An LJ user not on my friends' list: Every LJ user I have on my friends list is recommended by you, so I'm going to have to say my cousin's LJ: nickexplosion. Although he never posts.

1. Serious movie - "Pi"
1b. Comedy - "Strange Brew"

2. Either the new Al Franken book (which I haven't read yet) or "JFK, UFO's, and Elvis" by Richard Pelzer (I think)

3. Melissa Etheridge - "Breathe"....THEN go check out the original artist of this song, Greenwheel - http://www.greenwheel.net

Recommend to Me:

1. A movie. Y tu mamá también (yes, it's in Spanish, but there are subtitles and Chrissy and Ami both liked it too)

2. A book. Like I read? OK, something I started a long time ago and though I enjoyed it never got around to finishing, but is still on my goal list to read in its entirety: On The Road by Jack Kerouac.

3. A musical artist, song or album. OK, the one I really want to put here (Bacilos' "Caraluna") is something that I don't really know if you would like because of the language barrier, but I think it's amazing. As for something in English, I haven't listened to too much recently. I've already introduced you to Chantal and Jann (sort of) - ooh, I've got a good one that I think you might like, it's not new but it's probably new to you. Toad the Wet Sprocket's "Fear" album.

4. An LJ user not on my friends' list. wickedeyes, definitely.

Taking this survey goodness to the extreme...
1. This is tough because I loooove movies.
Feel Good Movie: Love Actually
Good for Laughs: The Family Guy on DVD or Aqua Teen Hunger Force on DVD, both not really movies, but entertaining nonetheless.
Good for Pretending You're Still Young: The Neverending Story, Labyrinth, Monster's Inc, Finding Nemo, The Lion King
Mo's Top Five on DVD that she can't stop watching: American Beauty, Adaptation, Reality Bites, The Usual Suspects, Office Space.

2. Also hard because I loooove books!
I'd say The DaVinci Code, but one of my personal favorites of all-time is The Neverending Story by Michael Ende(the book the movies were based on, but it has ever so much more detail and so much more story. It's great.

3. Allow me to music whore a bit...
Matt Nathanson- extremely entertaining live, genuinely funny and nice guy. Listen to "Sad Songs," "New Coats and New Hats," "Pretty the World,"...hell, listen to anything by the man.
Guster- one of my favorite bands currently gaining popularity, which means the 12 year-olds are buying their music and pissing me off at shows. Listen to "Demons," "X-Ray Eyes," "Mona Lisa," "Two Points for Honesty," "Homecoming King," and "Come Downstairs and Say Hello."
I'll just leave it at those two because otherwise I'll end up going on and on and on and on... :)

4. I'd recommend kaifawn. She's one of my oldest and dearest friends...and she's intelligent and fun!

1. A movie - Amelie or Life as a House (though I know youve seen it)

2. A book - To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee

3. A musical artist - I've just discovered Jeff Buckley. His song satisfied mind, and his version of lilac wine are superb.

4. my friend vanessa tends to post interesting things. her LJ name is vamessedup
Jan. 21st, 2004 07:01 pm (UTC)
1. Love Jones - it says something about love that I've always appreciated.

2. In Search of Solutions, Passionate Marriage, or some other nerdy therapy book (for fun reading, I recently read Hilary Clinton's book)

3. Matt Nathanson

4. I don't think I know anyone you don't already know.
