Mental Hospital (reflection)

Finding my voice, learning to scream

One of the most powerful moments in my favorite movie, The Joy Luck Club, is when An Mei "learns to scream" and finaling connects with her power. As a counselor, I too am coming into my own as I learn to embrace my emotional nature and shine as a person-centered therapist. Where I once relied on the bells and whistles of other theories, I have begun to focus first on my client, to bond with them on several levels.

And I'm reaching them. I feel them change and grow. In owning my core, I've finally managed to touch the core of others.

Once upon a time, I was a person learning to be a counselor. Now, I'm a counselor who's learning new things. A small change in perception that's making a world of difference.
