aspects of love
Just finished the novel that the musical Aspects of Love is based on, something I've intended to read for years. I didn't really care for the book, it felt kind of flat, and I didn't really feel for the characters. The musical improves on the material in subtle ways in most areas, and creates whole new ideas in other spots. For example, Rose's reason for singing Anything but Lonely never happens in the book.
I'm glad I read it, but The Light in the Piazza was a wonderful read, and I'm kind of dissappointed that the same can't be said for a musical that I've loved for over a decade.
