faith-the tour

Some friends and I have decided to attend a different religious/spiritual service every Sunday, in an attempt to find a place where we feel at home. We take turns picking the service we attend.

Today, we checked out the Universalist/Unitarian service, my first pick. Of the four of us who went today, I seemed to like it the most. I've wanted to attend a service there for years, but it took having people to go with me to take the chance.

The people are friendly, today's sermon was a good message that seemed to normalize challenges faced by a young congregation as well as people early on in their spiritual development. I plan on returning whenever our schedule permits.

Next week, it's Sharon's pick, and so far she's leaning toward a christian church on the west side of town. We'll see what next Sunday brings, other than the Superbowl.

Is that the one on Lincoln? I went to that one once, the summer that I lived in Barnes, and I did not like it.

yeah, it's on Lincoln, but I'm still not sure which one she's talking about. I've heard one of them is very fundamentalist, but she says that one she wants to visit had signs up about being an open and welcoming congregation. we'll see, I guess.

The one I went to was really annoying...I think they were open and welcoming, but I don't remember for sure. What I do know is that the whole audience (congregation??) stood up and swayed with their arms in the air for WAY too long with the christian/churchy band that played.

sounds like the Church of the Month club from SWEET CHARITY.

Be sure to check out the Religious Science Church... they sing Broadway showtunes!

Personally, I think the Superbowl is a religious service in itself.

Oh, I am so going to hell.

we'll now pass the communion tortilla chips, and say a prayer as we are on the 2 yard line! After next week's service, Sharon and I are going to a superbowl party in Kzoo, so we'll be getting two doses next week!
